Geocache Description:

This old country schoolhouse was chosen because it has figured largely in my own personal history.

During my junior high years, this country schoolhouse was affiliated with a nearby very historic church, Donegal Presbyterian Church, which was founded in 1721. The church is still active and maintains a growing congregation and beautiful grounds, loved and well-cared for. The first schoolmaster of this one room schoolhouse was the minister of the Donegal Presbyterian Church. His name was Colin McFarquhar, and the school was considered to be a strictly "classical" school.

When I was in junior high school in 1957, I would help with Bible school on the grounds of the nearby church and schoolhouse. I was the "secretary" and "treasurer" and assisted the teachers who taught in the old schoolhouse. I made many a long hot walk between these two historic locations!

The old schoolhouse at present is being used by scout troops. Still serving a good purpose!

The cache was originally an ammo can and which contained a commemorative coin from an old church about 10 miles from the Donegal Presbyterian Church. It is now a waterproof lock-n-lock.

It also contains some interesting items to choose from for the FTF!

1. Ring from Poland decorated with Polish amber,

2. Necklace made from rolled pieces of newspaper,

3. "Hello Kitty" watch promotional toy from McDonalds,

4. Shell necklace,

5. Green circular bracelet,

6. Kitty-kat highlighter,

7. "Love" pin,

8. Lighthouse suncatcher,

9. Two (2) pencils,

10. Two (2) paper flags,

11. A Native American ring purchased as a souvenir during a road trip to Arizona five years ago.

If you take something, please replace it with something you like! I hope the coin tracker will move from place to place and I can follow its travels! I hope you enjoy the cache. It is my first cache and my son helped me put it together and place it! Fun!
