The original home of The Express newspaper, founded in 1866.
The building still contains the original press used by the paper's first proprietor, George Lane.
Located in what was until not so long ago, the original Gisborne Rd.
George Lane was very quickly joined by partner Christopher Crisp in this business which lasted until 1983 when Fairfax purchased it.
These buildings, the printing equipment and type faces are classified by the National Trust, are on the Heritage Victoria register and are listed on the register of the National Estate.
This offshoot from the main road gives you ample parking, and hopefully plenty of cover to do your search. A tin, smelling faintly of mint, and defying gravity, is what you seek.
