Geocache Description:

This cache is not located at the posted coordinates.

In order to find the cache I'm inviting you to come on a virtual trip with me. You will need to search Google, use Google Maps (http:/maps.google.com - switch to "satellite" view in the top right corner) and the Google Maps Street View feature -> in Google Maps zoom in using the + button on the left side of the map until you reach Street View.

Starting on Holland Avenue you're off to Abbotsford International Airport where a KLM charter is waiting to fly you to Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

1. Park your car at Abbotsford International Airport. What is the three letter airport code?

2. After a 10 hour flight the Dutch media is waiting for your arrival.

Click -> align box

From which country are the soccer players who are on the same flight?

3. After your safe arrival in the Netherlands take the train to Centraal Station in Amsterdam. Find this location with Google Maps. Then drag the orange Google man on Damrak and proceed to Dam Square. Once you find yourself in the middle of Dam Square have a look around before you check in at your hotel. On the west end of the square is the neoclassical Royal Palace, which served as the city hall from 1655 until its conversion to a royal residence in 1808. Beside it is the 15th-century Gothic Nieuwe Kerk (New Church). The National Monument, a white stone pillar designed by J.J.P. Oud and erected in 1956 to memorialize the victims of World War II, dominates the opposite side of the square. Also overlooking the plaza are the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, where you will be staying, and the upscale department store De Bijenkorf. What animals (two separate statues) are guarding the Monument?

4. The following day, when you have recovered from your jetlag, it's time for some sightseeing in Amsterdam.
On Google Maps find Jodenbreestraat 4. One of the most famous people in Dutch history used to live and paint here for a number of years. What colour paint was used for the inside of the window shutters of the house that is now a museum?

5. In the afternoon we visit the residence of another well known person at Prinsengracht 263-267. There's quite the line up to get in. What is the date of birth of the person who used to live here?

6. Before we leave Amsterdam let's do some shopping.

Now wait and see what happens. How much does the least expensive advertised item cost?  Update: Unfortunately the video is no longer available.  The least expensive advertised item was 0.75.

7. Go to Zaanse Schans, Zaanstad. Look all around you and up. How many full size windmills did you spot? Note: Any windmill type structures without vanes (wings) do not count.

8. Next we're off to the dunes and beach.

Click ->

Wait until the map zooms in to Street View. Then walk south until you see a woman with a white bike. What colour is her jacket?

9. On our way back to Amsterdam we'll make a stop in this little village, not too far from where I grew up.

Click -> align box

Wait again until the map zooms in to Street View, then travel down IJdijk on the left (south/east) past the house with renos in progress until you see a statue on your right. What is the name of this very famous, heroic boy? Think 'dikes and water'.

10. Your trip to Holland would not be complete without a a bike ride!

Click -> align box

Scroll through the photos. You may be surprised to see how the Dutch use their bicycles. How many people fit comfortably on a Dutch bike built for one?
