Some time ago, I posted a note to the cache page requesting the cache owner to post a response on what they were planning to do with the cache. I have no record of a response, and no response tells me that they are not planning on replacing or repairing this cache. If I am wrong with that assumption, please let me know promptly. I can always unarchive the cache for you if needed.

Geocache Description:

Big Creek #2
Water has always been important to the history and development of Louisiana. Every bayou, lake, creek and bay has its own history and resources. Big Creek is about 75 miles long and rises in West Carroll Parish. It flows SW to Boeuf River west of Winnsboro, Louisiana.

.
The creek is a place that has offered lots of fun times fishing and swimming. The fishing is still a fun pastime and you see a lot of people fishing below the bridge. The creek supplies a lot of the water used for irrigation of crops.

When I was a boy growing up in Holly Ridge ( a saw mill town and farming community) we would make lots of trips to the creek to cool off and ever now and then eat some watermelon.
Lots of stories go with each trip to the swimming hole. I remember one time we were swimming in the buff and one of our friends brought his girlfriend to the swimming hole. All of our clothes were on the bank where they were. We had to threaten them so they would leave.
A few times we even played “hookey” from school to go swimming.

The grave yard you see up the road is a place where a lot of the black people are buried. A lot of the graves are not marked. Some of them are people I knew when I was growing up. There is one
grave of a soldier who fought in the WWI war.

You have plenty of room to pull off the highway and turn around. Be careful during wet times.
Also be respectful of the cemetery.
