CanadianRockies: It doesn't look like we'll be able to return this cache to the park before heading out of town, so I'm going to archive it. Thanks to everyone who visited.

Geocache Description:

This cache is not your typical Calgary Parks 100 sandwich-sized Lock & Lock container. Another good name for it might be Increasingly Difficult.

It's located in an off-leash dog area, so bring a four-legged friend to help you search. With such assistance, finding this cache should require significantly less than 723 minutes.

The cache has a key chain theme, so please trade accordingly. If you have any unused keys laying around your home, please feel free to bring them with you and add them to this cache's locking mechanism.

NOTE: This cache has two two locks. As you close it up, be sure the log book and trade items are secured beneath both locks.

On July 14, 2011, we moved this cache several metres to better comply with Calgary's Tree Protection Bylaw. There are assorted thorns near the cache, so be sure to dress appropriately. In the summer, you would be wise to have plenty of bug spray.

Thanks to Ms. CanadianRockies for the painting.

Congratulations to "angestar" for the FTF!

Occupying 62 hectares along the Bow River, Southland Park has large off-leash dog areas, hiking and biking pathways, lots of parking, and restrooms.

The river banks, flood plain, inland marshes, and an off-shore island are home to beaver, boreal chorus frogs, eastern grey squirrels, and a wide variety of birds.

Early settlers farmed and ranched this land. Since then, it has seen many other uses, including golfing. In 1992, citizens formed a group to oppose the golf course and to promote a park. The City of Calgary established Southland Park in 1994.

This cache was created in collaboration with The City of Calgary Parks for their Parks 100 celebrations in 2010. The City of Calgary Parks thanks all the cachers who placed, maintained, and visited the Parks 100 caches in our parks.
