Geocache Description:

This cache is one of five in Baden-Powell Council’s “Treasures of Scouting” series. Its full name is "Baden-Powell Council, Treasures of Scouting: Action! Boy Scouts”.

The cache is a small plastic box filled with Boy Scout goodies. It is at Camp Barton.

For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has helped youth become more than they ever thought possible. And we’ll continue that journey into the next century.

"Action! Boy Scouts": The Boy Scout program in the US began in 1910 and currently is open to boys ages 11-18. Boys learn and grow through the experiences of camping, hiking, building projects, and community service. Scouting fosters self-esteem, a sense of value and belonging, a sense of accountability, and teamwork. It’s also a lot of fun! The skills learned in Scouting help young men overcome obstacles and challenges with courage and character throughout their lives. Geocaching offers a new opportunity for the Boy Scouts to experience the outdoors while honing their Scouting skills. This cache is placed in honor of all young people in hopes that they will also take this opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

In addition to "Action! Boy Scouts", we’ve hidden four other caches highlighting Scouting programs. Find all five! Search "Baden-Powell, Treasures" on geocaching.com. There are postcards in each cache - turn in cards from all 5 and be entered in a random drawing for unactivated geocoins (while supplies last!). Again, there are postcards in each cache to enter yourself in the drawing.
