Geocache Description:

This cache is being placed in honor of Spc./Firefighter Travis Jett, my co-worker’s son. Travis was recently buried in this cemetery with full United States Army honors as well as the “Firemen’s Last Call” ceremony on a beautiful and breezy spring day.

Travis was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the West Virginia
National Guard, a member of the Spencer-Roane Volunteer Fire Department and an honorary member of the Star City Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trail riding, and teaching children about fire safety. According to those who knew him – Travis was an outgoing, thoughtful, and respectful young man, would stop what he was doing to help others, had a great sense of humor, and was by his own admission his “mom’s biggest fan.”

Please be sure to take a walk around the cemetery before or after finding the cache, and please make sure to be respectful and quiet while walking around and hunting for the cache.

Please park at the first gate you find off the main road and walk to the cache from there and ONLY search for it during daylight hours. Also - make sure to close all gates back securely!.

NOTE BEFORE LOGGING: While you do NOT have to do this to log a find, we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE AND ASK YOU to include in your online entry a little bit about someone special you may have known who was in the service or was a first responder of some kind who has now passed away.

The FTF prize is $ 2.79 – enough for a tank of gas on the day the cache was placed.
