Every once in a while it is time to return to the basics of geocaching. The ABCs of Geocaching series will test you on your basic skills and maybe stretch you a little bit as well.
F is for FTF. First to Find. An acronym written by geocachers in physical cache logbooks or online when logging cache finds to denote being the first to find a new geocache. The ability to gloat over the fact that you made it to the spot before anyone else and signed a blank log.
This geocache marks the beginning of the Greater Harrisonburg FTF Series as an effort to provide more people with the pleasure of a FTF. Here are the ground rules:
1 - If you are the First to Find this cache, you must place another "Greater Harrisonburg FTF Series" cache within 30 days in order to extend the series.
2 - The resulting cache must contain the words "Greater Harrisonburg FTF Series #" with subsequent cache titles reflecting the appropriate series number starting with number 1.
3 - You should place the cache in the greater Harrisonburg, VA area.
4 - You may choose any type of cache (ie. traditional, puzzle, etc) and any type/size of container you desire.
5 - YOU CAN ONLY BE THE FTF ONCE IN THIS SERIES, IN ORDER TO GIVE OTHER CACHERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SCORE A FTF.
By way of clarification, there is no requirement besides the standard signing of the cache log to prevent you from logging this cache when found. Everyone should log their find,and hopefully the FTF person will play along and place another cache, but it is in no way a requirement for logging your find.
FTF prize in this cache is a ready to hide micro container. Happy Caching.
