Geocache Description:

For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has helped youth become more than they ever thought possible. And we’ll continue that journey into the next century.
The Georgia-Carolina Council's "Treasures of Scouting AdVenturing Crew" is one of five "Treasures" placed in the council area. In addition to AdVenturing Crew, we’ve hidden four other caches highlighting Scouting programs. Find all five! Search BSA-GCC, Treasures of Scouting on Geocaching.com.

The Georgia-Carolina Council, Boy Scouts of America was chartered in 1922 by the Rotary Club of Augusta. Since that time, the Council has grown to now serve sixteen counties in the CSRA: Aiken, Barnwell, Burke, Columbia, Edgefield, Emanuel, Glascock, Jefferson, Jenkins, Lincoln, McCormick, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, and Wilkes. Currently, we have over 80 chartered partners with 167 scouting units and over 5,500 registered youth members and over 1,500 registered volunteers.

AdVenturing Crew: The Venturing program is open to young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20. It is a unique program because it uses extreme outdoor adventure and other Crew focused activities as a method for building character, peer-to-peer bonds, and independence. Geocaching Crews are a great addition to the Venturing Program! This cache is placed in hopes that all young men and women will venture forth to do great things.

While visiting this cache be sure to visit the rest of the facilities at Riverview Park. There is easy access to the North Augusta Greenway which is great riding or walking along the scenic Savannah River.

Although this cache is in a wooded area, there is no need for any real bushwhacking. Please use the walking path to get within a few feet of the cache. This cache place with permission from North Augusta Parks and Recreation.

Inside each of the five Georgia-Carolina Council’s “Treasures of Scouting” geocaches is a card with a code phrase log. Get a card from one of the five caches and record the code phrases from each of the five caches. The code phrase will be on a laminated card in the zip-lock bag with the cards. Once you have all five code phrases return it to the Georgia Carolina Council Boy Scout Office for a chance to win a BSA Geocoin. Directions how to return the code phrases are on the card. We will have weekly drawings from July through November 2010. Search user name “BSA-GCC” to see the five “Treasures of Scouting” geocaches. Good luck!
The cache is an ammo can and the original stash contains items such as patches, wooden nickles, and a travel bug or two!
