Lake Pleasant Plane Crash
I actually waited some time to post this cache. I researched the internet to find more about this plane crash but could not. Seems the so called “Aviation Archaeologists” are a little stingy about releasing info on crash sites. Possibly you will have better luck and can inform me about exactly what happened here so many years ago. Here is what I do know. There is a small white cross erected at the site with some very faded writing on it. This is what I can make out: LT B. Knapp USAA.
The hike is mild but if you go be sure to bring water with you. We took a boat and went up into a cove, parked and started the hike. A friend of mine used to work on the lake and was show the plane wreck site years ago. I was very surprised when he was able to relocate it without the help of a GPS. If you put the coordinates in Google Earth you can actually see the plane. This will help you to plan your persuit and see the best cove to dock your boat. There aren’t any roads or quad trails near this cache. Be ready to do some rock hopin’ as there is no trail to follow. Good luck and please post any information you find out about the crash or the pilot. Please do not take anything from this site. We didnt bring any but binoculars would have been helpful
