The Harte series of caches were placed to celebrate International
Trails Day on June 5th. June 5th marks the official opening of the
Harte Trail Extension, 6.5km of trail running from Shaftsbury Blvd
to Perimiter Hwy.
Winnipeg trails are as varied as the multicultural makeup of our
city! They weave through river bottom forests, urban jungles, open
fields and along abandoned rail beds allowing you to enjoy many
'off the beaten path' sights, sounds and scents our city has to
offer.
This popular trail is part of the Trans Canada Trail and runs
through a narrow strip of wilderness on an old railway bed. The
path is intersected by half a dozen streets, and it is clear where
the locals gain access, from numerous well worn footpaths meeting
the trail. Its name is taken from the Harte Line, the first section
of Grand Trunk Pacific Railway built in western Canada in
1894.
Over the years fruit bearing shrubs, Siberian elm and other native
plants have grown up as shelter. This is a perfect example of how a
variety of natural growth takes over when land is left alone

Logging
Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of
planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear
your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the
hide, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required.
Single word, acronym, or emoticon logs may be easier when you have
a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other
finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding
the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
