This facility is no longer an active Cal Fire station. Corona FD took up the responsibility for the assigned area a while ago, freeing up the resources here to go elsewhere.
However, the cache is still in action.
Placed with permission. You will be watched by Cal Fire Duty Officer. The desk is right behind the window! Parking is available right at GZ but watch your distance from that fire hydrant! Cache is NOT that oddly configured post cap!!!
California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is an emergency response and resource protection department. CAL FIRE protects lives, property and natural resources from fire; responds to emergencies of all types, and protects and preserves timberlands, wildlands, and urban forests. In 2005 CAL FIRE celebrated 100 years of history. Throughout those years the Department experienced tremendous change. This is one of their stations.
When visiting this cache, note the grand old tree in their front yard. Many people stop by just to check it out. Apparently, it is also the impediment to widening the road here (Temescal Canyon Road). They will have to relocate that tree if they ever widen the road (good luck with that!!!).
