Parkplatz: N 48° 49.028 E 009° 03.320. Ein paar wenige Parkplätze gibt es auch direkt bei der Tonmühle. Gerlingens Landschaft ist außergewöhnlich vielgestaltig. Erdgeschichtlich weist Gerlingen Spuren vom Muschelkalk über Keuperschichten hin bis zu Resten von Stubensandstein auf. Die Stadt Gerlingen würdigt diese geologischen Besonderheiten auf 12 Informationstafeln. Die Tafeln liegen verstreut in und um Gerlingen. Ein kostenloses Infoblatt liegt im Gerlinger Rathaus aus (N 48° 47.904 E 009° 03.721). Detailliertere Informationen erhält man in der Broschüre „Gerlingen – Gestalt der Landschaft und geologischer Untergrund“, die man in der Geschäftsstelle des Heimatpflegevereins http://www.gerlingen.de/servlet/PB/menu/1108267_l1/index.html in Gerlingen erwerben kann. Dieser Earthcache führt euch zu der Station 1 des Geopfades ins Glemstal. Die Glems floss hier einst hoch über der heutigen Erdoberfläche nach Osten durch den Gipskeuper. Der Gipskeuper wurde nach und nach abgetragen, bis die Glems den Muschelkalkstein erreichte. Durch ihn musste sie sich in diesem Teilabschnitt geradezu hindurchsägen, sodass dieses liebliche Tal entstand. Der Cache zeigt euch eine kleine Kalksteinwand in Dolomitform. Ich glaube allerdings nicht, dass ihr hier noch Fossilien entdeckt, da das Klopfen hier nicht gestattet ist. Euer Hämmerchen könnt ihr also zu Hause lassen. Stattdessen lädt das Tal nach dem Rätseln zu einer kleinen Fahrradtour oder einem erholsamen Spaziergang ein. Oder ihr stattet den restlichen Geotafeln einen Besuch ab. Für Letzeres empfehle ich ein Fahrrad oder Auto. Beantwortet bitte zuerst folgende vier Fragen, indem ihr die Lösung in einer Mail an mich schickt. Logfreigabe kommt, wenn die Antworten richtig sind. Logs ohne Freigabe werden gelöscht! Es wäre schön, wenn ihr eurem Logeintrag ein Foto von euch oder eurem GPS-Gerät zufügt vor oder in der Glems in diesem engen Talabschnitt.
