Geocache Description:

A fitting tribute is found just on the outskirts of Henty in the Riverina to Senior Sergeant Thomas Smyth .A memorial stone and plaque are located at the exact place the police sergeant was gunned down on the 4th September 1864 by notorious bushranger "Mad Dog Morgan".


Following his 6 years of imprisonment ,Morgan began life as a bushranger using alias's as "John Smith " , "Sydney Native " , "Dan the Breaker " ,Down the river Jack ", " Jack Morgan " and Dan Morgan.
Morgan operated around Tumbarumba,Culcairn, Henty and Gerogery.Sergeant Smyth was shot on the 4th September and actually survived for 25 days before passing away on the 29th. The cache is a 200ml container with a zip-lock bag containing log book and pencil.There are plenty of swaps within.
