Die Achalm ist ein sogenannter Zeugenberg. Der Gipfel liegt 707m hoch und besteht aus weißem Jura wie die noch 10 km entfernte Schwäbische Alb. Ein Beweis (Zeuge) dafür, dass vor Jahrmillionen der Weißjura-Block der Alb bis hierher reichen musste.
Im 11. Jahrhundert erbaute die Grafen Egino und Rudolf von Achalm eine Burg auf dem Gipfel, von der jedoch nur noch wenige Mauerreste und der um 1838 wieder aufgebaute Bergfried erhalten sind. Die Burg zerfiel schon im 15. Jahrhundert. Während des 30 Jährigen Krieges kam es zur endgültigen Schleifung der Burggemäuer, zudem wurden sehr viele Steine als Baumaterial von Stadthäusern verwendet. In dem Gebiet in dem wir uns momentan befinden gab es einen Begrutsch.
Weißen Jura findet man übrigens auch in Franken, im Rheintal und an der Wutach wieder. Er bildet die oberste Schicht des "Süddeutschen Juras". Der weiße Jura lagerte sich aus Sedimenten vor etwa 150 bis 160 Millionen Jahren ab. Der Jura wird übrigens von der Trias unter- und von der Kreide überlagert. Der Name des Gesteins "Jura" stammt von Alexander von Humboldt.
Folgende Fragen zum Loggen des Caches sind zu beantworten und an mich mit Eurem Nickname zu schicken. Die Antworten könnt ihr einer Hinweistafel an den o. g. Koordinaten entnehmen. Ihr braucht nicht auf Logfreigabe zu warten, sondern dürft sofort loggen. Falls etwas nicht stimmt, melde ich mich.

Schön wäre ein zusätzliches Bild von Dir oder Deinem GPS-Gerät am EarthCache. Bei Bildern der Hinweistafel sorgt bitte dafür, dass der Text nicht lesbar ist. Der Weg zum Cache ist zwar an manchen Stellen etwas steil, es lohnt sich aber, die Achalm zu erklimmen.

The Achalm is a so called „Zeugenberg“. His height is 707m and is based on white jura. Directly translated it means “mountain of witness”. It is of the same material than the swabian alb 10km from here. Thats an archealogical evidence that the swabian alb was extended till here million years ago.
In the 11th century Earl Egino and Rudolf were building a castle at the top. Currently only a few walls and the tower which was rebuilt in 1838 could be found. The castle began to ruinous since the 15th century. During the thirty years war the people began to brake down the walls. They used the stones to built up there houses in the city of Reutlingen. In this area a big landslip happens.
You can find white Jura also in Franken, the valley of rhine and at the Wutach. It is the upper level of the "Süddeutscher Jura". The white jury was coming up by sediments approximatly 150 to 160 million years ago. Under the jura you can find trias and above there is an overlay of chalkstone. The stone was named by Alexander von Humboldt.
