There is still active mining here as you can tell by a sign near this location marking the Giant King Mining claim. Accessible by wheelchair and there is an unmarked pullout on the uphill side. This cache is one in a series in the mining district along the South Yuba River. Check out the rest. You can drive to all of them in a high-clearance vehicle or hike upstream from City Water Supply.
