Located on a branch off the Hunting Island Marsh Boardwalk Trail. It has some of the most spectacular marsh views you’ll see anywhere in SC. Both stages are accessible from the designated parking area for the Marsh Boardwalk Trail.
Over the years, there have been at least three geocaches located on the small hammocks that are connected by the Marsh Boardwalk trails. (The Random House unabridged calls these high spots in the marsh “hummocks” but I was born and raised in the south and hammocks is what we call them.)
One of the containers washed away and the others were either picked up by muggles or stolen. I’m hoping that by making this a Subscriber Only multi, it will last for a while.
The coordinates posted will take you to the first stage of this geocache. There you will find a pair of brass tags nailed to a tree at about eye-level. One has the letters F and H followed by digits. The other has the letters G, I and J followed by digits.
You’ll find the cache container at the following coordinates:
N 32º 21.1 “F” “I”
W 80º 27.”G” “I” 9
(Be careful and don’t confuse the gimmie 1 in the north coordinate with the letter “I”!)
There are also several other great multis on the trails hidden by HeadLlama. For a great geocaching day, I recommend them all.
