This cache is located in the town of Savery, Wyoming. It is just off of State Highway 70 in the beautiful Little Snake River Valley. This is one of the finest small museums we have ever visited. Its displays and buildings encompass the entire span of human occupation of this scenic area. From Native American weapons and artifacts, through the earliest fur trappers, to early homesteaders the exhibitions are well presented and documented. Jim Baker was one of the pioneers of the west. He was a fur trapper and explorer. His fort and trading post has been moved to this location and restored. The first Savery school house was built on this location. The building and grounds were donated to the local historical society who have worked hard to make this such a wonderful place to spend some quality family time and to learn history by standing in the same buildings built by the people who made history. There are numerous cabins, houses and machines, and modes of transportation displayed in an inviting outdoor setting. There are plans to move new buildings here in the near future to represent an entire community. Plan to spend some time here and also explore all the wonderful outdoor activities in this scenic area. The museum is open from Memorial Day through some cold day in late October.
Have Fun!!
