The Garden of Earthly Delights is a triptych painted by a fellow Dutchman, Hieronymus Bosch (c. 1450–1516.) it has been housed in the Museo del Prado in Madrid since 1939. Painted between 1490 and 1510, when Bosch was about 40 or 50 years old, it is his best-known and most ambitious work. The masterpiece reveals the artist at the height of his powers; in no other painting does he achieve such complexity of meaning or such vivid imagery. It depicts several Biblical scenes on a grand scale and as a "true triptych", it was perhaps intended to illustrate the history of mankind according to medieval Christian doctrine.
Grasshoppers’ Garden of Earthly Delights, while not as complicated, serves a dual role. It will take you on a short trail walk in a delightful area, an area where any grasshopper would enjoy spending time. It will also serve as a vehicle for me to drop a geocoin in a cache beginning with “G.”
Take just a few minutes after replacing the cache to listen to the birds. It would be a great place for a hammock and good book.
