Geocache Description:

New Park off of Samaritan Drive. Not a Micro, nor is it a Nano. Depending on the time of the day and day of the week there could be loads of muggles about.

Carolyn Norris Park named for longtime San Jose neighborhood activist.
Longtime Cambrian activist Carolyn Norris will be posthumously acknowledged on May 14 when a new public park will be named for her on Samaritan Drive.
Carolyn Norris Park spans 1.3 acres at 2133 Samaritan Drive, and it has a large lawn, two children's play structures and a gazebo with game tables. Vice Mayor Judy Chirco is expected to speak about Norris' life at the park's opening ceremony at 4:30 p.m.
"This is a park that would make Carolyn proud. It is for her community and children—two interests that were near and dear to Carolyn's heart," Chirco said in a statement.
Norris was involved in traffic calming efforts for years, and she was responsible for many road safety improvements in the Cambrian area. During the Highway 85 project, she also kept close tabs on the installation of its soundwalls and landscaping, a stone's throw from the park.
Norris also advocated to save the Camden Community Center when it was threatened by development.
A dedicated maker of jams and jellies with her husband, Norris won blue ribbons at Santa Clara County and California State fairs for her recipes. Norris died in 2006 of a brain aneurysm.
Dennis Norris, her husband, said his wife would be "embarrassed but very happy" with a public park named in her honor.
"Her fingerprints are on a number of things in the Cambrian area and beyond," Dennis Norris said in a statement.
The event on May 14 will include a ceremony celebrating
her life, and it will have light refreshments, free face painting and balloon animals for children.
Just down the road from Good Samaritan Hospital, the triangular park is between a new SummerHill Homes development and Highway 85, but it is built on a hill above the highway between Union and Clydelle avenues.
City officials held two meetings with neighbors to gather input on what amenities neighbors wanted in the park, and planners said they hope the shaded tables for chess and checkers will draw passersby.
