what better place to rest a while than the Royal Ascot Hotel for travelbugs. as the name suggests it is designed to provide a resting place for travelbugs and coins while they are on their journey.
its large enough to hold several bugs and coins along with a few little swops.

The real Royal Ascot Hotel stood on a site a little further up the main road over looking the racecourse and what is now heatherwood roundabout. it is now a posh apartment development.
the Reading Mercury reported an account on 31st August 1865 of the GREAT HOTEL ROBERY AT ASCOT....the following is a extract from the report
.....It was discovered that Major General Forster's bedroom on the ground floor had been entered while the General was asleep, and that a gold watch, valued at £70., presented by the Duke of Gloucester, and bearing the Royal arms;a gold and platina chain, to which a ring with 5 engraved stones and an unengraved one, was attached;and two gold pencil cases one of which was a souvenier of Lord Clyd, had been stolen from the table at the foot of the bed.....
