Petit village situé à 4 km au nord-ouest de Châlons en Champagne, Préfecture de la Région Champagne Ardenne.

Le territoire communal s’étend sur 1 400 hectares voués pour la plus grande partie à l’agriculture céréalière.

La population, au 1er janvier 2010, est de 1 047 habitants et devrait à court terme approcher les 1 100 compte tenu des constructions en cours de réalisation.

Recy est une des 13 communes qui constituent la Communauté d'Agglomération de Châlons en Champagne et se caractérise par une forte activité associative tant dans les domaines sportif, culturel et loisirs.
