Nobunaga placed the base around the vicinity of the top of a mountain of the chaozu mountain in which it looked down at the battlefield of [shidaragen] it, and the god of harvest company now. The view is not good because trees densely grew thick though it is a mountain with the ratio amount of the extent that becomes little hiking if climbing it by the shank's mare even if climbing it around in there is a stone monument in the Ota Nobunaga base mark. 信長は、設楽原の戦場を見下ろす茶臼山の山頂付近、現在は稲荷社になっているあたりに本陣を置きました。自分の足で登ってみると、ちょっとしたハイキングになる程度の比高を持つ山ですが、木々が鬱蒼と茂っていたため、織田信長本陣跡の石碑があるあたりまで登っても、展望は良くありません。信長が陣取った天正の頃も、視界に関しては現在とさほどの差は無かったのではないでしょうか。主戦場からの距離は随分あるな、というのが現地を訪ねた実感です。信長はここで、山と台地に挟まれるようにして広がる設楽原から発生し、周囲の山々に跳ね返って遠雷のようにこだましてくる銃声を聞いていたのでしょう。高みの見物と言うのとは少し違いますが、巨大勢力織田軍団の総帥となっていた信長は、もう無闇に前線へと顔を出す事はせず、巌のようにここに構えていたのかもしれません。
