Geocache Description:

On October 25,1896 the Women's Relief Corps of the Grand Army of the Republic opened their home for "Ex-Union soliders, their wives and widows". The original dwelling, the Dummoor Mansion had a capacity of 61. On June 20, 1897 the home was transferred to the State of Mo. and named the Federal Soldiers Home of Missouri.
The home today is called The Missouri Veterans Home of St. James,Mo.

On April 18, 1895, the William James Mansion and its surrounding 60 acres were presented to the womwn's relief corp. Funds for the purchase of the property were donated from the heirs of the James Mansion and residents of St. James and Phelps County.

The cache is in a Medium size jar.
