Geocache Description:

Hidden among the rocks of of San Francisco's Glen Canyon Park.

UPDATE 4/10/09 Don't call me a procrastinator -- I maintain my cache every five years, whether it needs it or not! Visited today and replaced leaking container and logbook with new ones. Hope this remains hidden and dry.
UPDATE 8/5/04
Original cache appears to have been trashed during city clean-up. Placed a new cache in a different setion of the park. This one is smaller--a sandwich-size Tupperware container--so bring petite things to swap. Spot is easy to get to from above, a bit of a scramble from the main trail below. No poison oak in the immediate vicinity, but keep your eyes peeled on the way there. Lemme know if the coordinates need tweaking.
UPDATE 3/5/04
Changed the camera (last batch of photos are here labeled GlenCache 2004) and transcribed the latest additions to the serial poem. Keep versifying!
UPDATE 8/30/03
Cache has been relocated to another section of the park, this time a location without poison oak abutting the cache (although there is some nearby, so don't go traipsing among the low-slung, leaves-of-three green stuff off the trail.) New location is a little easier to get to (closer to the O'Shaughnessy Blvd. side of the park) but a little harder to find. As always, please be discrete removing and recovering the cache, please contribute the serial poem, which has been languishing. And lemme know if cooridnates are off--reception was a little squirrely because of tree cover.

Cache is 2-qt. container, so bring small stuff. Photos posted are from first two locations, further into park. .
The logbook also has several sheets in front for a serial poem. I wrote the first line; subsequent visitors should add a line or two of their own, if so moved. (Please, no profanity, vulgarity or "There was a young lass from Nantucket" stuff.) Will record literary efforts here as they progress.
Happy caching, and drop me a note at dbecker2@pacbell.net if cache is damaged, missing or otherwise needs maintenance.
Here are the impressive initial verses of the serial poem (T.S. Eliot, eat your heart out!):

The rocks of Glen Canyon
silently stand.
While walking down here
I cut up my hand.
Dogs runing madly
tracking 'round sand.
I thought to myself
what a wild, beautiful land.
I'd shoot my video here
were I in a band.
We never could imagine.
the Glen Canyon wildflowers were so grand.

Yet moments away
lies a Safeway store.
With cookies and pickles
and fresh batteries galore.
Pickles are cucumbers
Pickled oh so fine.
One might even
Label them divine.

Enough about pickles
'Cause what really tickles
Is the fact that we were
here minding our business
and we found this storage box.
Surrounded by flox?
And not hibiscus?
Let's hope the weather
doesn't turn too viscuous.

A fine day for goats
Grazing contentedly below.
A great day for coats.
Ow! I stubbed my toe.
Oh no! Oh no! My toe!
A place where fungus
wants to grow.
Father Dan was here
But now he has to go.

That man has lost his dog.
His Roger will not come.

I am out of breath.
I am getting fat.
I hope I do not tread
Where dogs recently shat.

From Ohio to here
It took Boink a year.
Please take her somewhere
Where it's green with fresh air.

Well Boink's on her way
Just where we can't say.
Seems this poem is petering out.
Don't know what that's about.

Perhaps the lack of rhyming inspiration
Is due to light deprovation.

But hark, here come Tigger
To put a smile on your face
With his wit like a trigger
He yearns to travel all over the place.

It was a beautiful day for the two of us
With a little meandering through the trees.
We found the cache with little fuss.
We're anxious to find where the next quest leads.

The quest, you ask
Well, this I know--
From whence you came
To whence you'll go.
And all about you
Circles spin
As others leave
Then jump back in.
