Welcome to Bayboro Harbor once a home to the United States Maritime Service Training Station which prepared nearly 25,000 recruits for the job of protecting ships traveling across the open seas.
The coordinates will bring you to a cenotaph which was placed at the tip of Bayboro Harbor on National Maritime Day in 1945 to recognize the service of those who had served and perished during World War II. The cache is not located there, but it must be used as a starting point.
At the listed GZ you will find a fixed compass. Only one of the compass points is capped. Walk in the direction of the only compass point with a directional "emblem" for approx. 120 feet to the end of the path and look for a way to help dock your boat. You may need a stick to retrieve the cache and to push it back so mugglers do not spot it.
IMPORTANT: Please make sure to put the pebbles back, they keep the cache from blowing away. Bring a pen.
You must have a permit to park on the peninsula. There is metered parking in the street. No need to feed the meter between 8 PM-9 AM, but check the fine print in case there is a change. The area is a nice walk from the Dali or downtown. Consider taking the St. Petersburg Looper https://loopertrolley.com/.
During work and school hours there may be many mugglers. Dogs must be on a leash and this is a no smoking zone.
This cache is part of the Bayboro Harbor Collection.
Thank you to JRMan for allowing me to adopt this cache. I had to change the cache location, but was able to keep most of the original details.
