Der Marulbach in der "Enge"




DEUTSCH:
Die Schlucht, genannt "Enge", liegt im Bereich einer kleinen Geländestufe.
Möglicherweise hat ein Seitengletscher aus dem Bereich der Gamsfreiheit dazu beigetragen, dass diese Stufe erhalten blieb. Wenn nämlich zwei Gletscher aufeinander treffen und sich gegenseitig ablenken, wird der Untergrund weniger stark abgeschliffen.

Gegen Ende der letzten Eiszeit hinterließen die Gletscher große Mengen an lockerem Gesteinsmaterial im hinteren Marultal. Nachdem das Eis geschmolzen war, schwemmte der Marulbach in wenigen tausend Jahren Schutt und Feinsedimente durch das Tal. Wasser und Geröll schmirgelten und schnitten sich hier tief in die mit relativ weiche Gesteinen erfüllte Mulde ein. Die darunter liegenden harten, kieshaltigen Gesteine, die nördlich und südlich der Schlucht „Sätteln“ aufgefaltet wurden, konnten sich der Erosion durch Eis, Wasser und Frost besser wiedersetzen als der weiche Muldenkern.

Von der Hängebrücke aus sieht man an den Seitenwänden – von oben nach unten – deutlich die Kolke, also die Auswaschung, die belegt, dass die Schlucht von Anbeginn durch die Kraft des Wassers entstanden ist.

Da man nicht direkt zur Schlucht fahren kann (Fahrverbot), empfehle ich das Auto am Parkplatz (N47 12.087 E9 51.604) bei der Kirche in Marul abzustellen und über den Walderlebnispfad (Variante 2) zum Earthcache zu wandern.

ENGLISH:

The gorge, known as "Enge" is in the range of a small terrance.
Maybe a side glacier from the area of Gamsfreiheit has helped preserve these terrance remained. Namely when two glaciers meet each other and distract each other, the surface is less grounded.

Towards the end of the last Ice Age, the glaciers left behind large quantities of loose rock material in the back Marultal. After the ice had melted, the Marulbach washed within a few thousand years, debris and fine sediments through the valley. Water and debris sanded and cut here deep into the relatively soft rocks filled a trough. The underlying hard gravelly rocks that were folded to the north and south canyon "saddles" were able to erosion by ice, water and frost reinstallation better than the soft hollow core.

From the suspension bridge can be seen on the side walls - from top to bottom - clearly the potholes, so the leaching, are showing that the gorge has emerged through the power of water from the beginning.

You can not drive directly to the gorge (ban on driving)! I recommend to start from the parking area (N47 12.087 E9 51.604) near the church in Marul and go via the forest trail (option 2) to the Earthcache.
