Hans Egede Traditional Cache
GinJKPG: Unfortunately I have to archive this cache as I have no chance to replace it soon. When I placed Hans Egede it was one of the first in Greenland's capital. Now there are at least some in and around the city. But no cache in the city center. So maybe someone who is living in Nuuk would like to take over this archived cache?

Hans Poulsen Egede (January 31, 1686 – November 5, 1758) was
a Dano-Norwegian Lutheran missionary who launched mission efforts
to Greenland, which led him to be styled the Apostle of Greenland.
He established a successful mission among the Inuit and is credited
with revitalizing Dano-Norwegian interest in the island after
contact had been broken for hundreds of years. He founded
Greenland's capital Godthåb, now known as Nuuk. (Wikipedia)
The cache is placed near the monument. You will have a beautiful
view over the fjord.

Hans Egede, född 31 januari 1686 i Harstad, Norge, död 5 november
1758 i Falster, Danmark, även kallad Grönlands apostel, var en
pietistisk norsk präst av dansk härkomst. Hans Egede var präst på
Lofoten då han fick höra talas om vikingarna som hade slagit sig
ned på Grönland. 1721 bad han Frederik IV av Danmark om att få resa
till Grönland och missionera bland dessas förmodade katolska
ättlingar. Efter att ha fått kungens godkännande begav sig Egede
1721 till Grönland, men fann inga vikingaättlingar utan började
istället missionera bland inuiterna. 1728 grundlade Egede Grönlands
huvudort Godthåb. Utanför denna stad (numera kallad Nuuk) finns
idag en stor staty av Hans Egede. (Wikipedia)
Cachen är placerad nära monumentet. Du har en vacker utsikt över
fjorden.
