A quick drive-by on the northbound carriageway of the Hume.
"Got a copy there southbound ?"
"Yeah mate, gotcha."
"What's it like behind you there ?"
"Ah, there was a double-bubble near the Big Hill and the barbie's hot at Broadford. Apart from that, it's a good run to the border"
"Thanks for that matey, have a safe trip and catch you next time."
"Roger that mate."
Anyone who's ever traveled the Hume with a CB, especially back in the old 27MHz AM days, would probably recognise that exchange. A truckie heading north has got a road report from someone heading south, warning him that there was a police car near the Big Hill (around the Sunday Creek area) and that the weighbridge at Broadford was operating.
You'll know if the barbequeue is hot as you approach this cache site because of the large orange flashing lights on the sign at the exit and the large number of trucks.
Apart from the large and exposed area of the weighbridge itself, if you take the left-hand fork off the exit there is a parking area towards the back of the site which may be better suited to cars.
If the weighbridge is operating, you may need a little stealth, but otherwise, you shouldn't have too many problems retrieving this cache.
There's no facilities at this site, but it's still a decent area to get out and stretch the legs.
There is a little broken glass around between the car-park and GZ, so footwear is advisable.
The cache was a 400ml cliptop, generously supplied by baby&MrsGopher when the original went walk-about on the weekend of the 10-year event at Strath Creek. However a local resident decided to gnaw through the container, letting in the water. It was replaced with a camo 400ml Sistema on March 29.
For the FTF there are a couple of scratchies.
