A cache located in the peaceful Glen Artney. The route on the north bank of the river covers a wide variety of terrain.
The glen is a haven for wildlife. We hope you are lucky enough to see some of the many red deer which are present in this glen.
The 7 mile route starts/finishes from the parking at Dalrannoch (opposite Cultybraggan camp) and the parking at Glen Artney Church.
Few people live in Glen Artney today and the area is a peaceful haven for walkers with a choice of walking routes and relatively few cars. The glen was once an ancient royal deer forest that supplied venison to the Sovereigns of Scotland at Holyrood, Dunfermline and Falkland. It is steeped in history and natural beauty.
The route is described from the western end starting at Auchinner Bridge. From the last cache the route gradually goes uphill onto the moor on a poorly defined path. Watch out for Deer.
This section can be very boggy so boots are essential.
GZ gives exceellent views to the Glen Artney Donald hills to the south.
Look for a large stone with a metal fence post in it.
This cache has been placed for "Donalds where's yer Over-Troosers?" on June 19th 2010
