Geocache Description:

The cache was inspired by the history of Billy Bishop and is placed near one of the many locations throughout Canada that have memorialized him.

Air Marshal William Avery "Billy" Bishop was born in Owen Sound in 1894.
He was a First World War flying ace. He died in 1956 and his final resting place is in Owen Sound.

One of the many great stories about Billy was his apparent survival of an encounter with the Red Baron.

Additional Points of interest located in Owen Sound include, the final resting place of Billy Bishop at Greenwood Cemetery N 44' 32.868 99 W 80' 56.506
and Billy Bishop Home & Museum N44' 33.971 W 80'56.855
The links to the additional points of interest can bee seen below.

This is a quick and easy tribute cache which should not take too long to discover.
Please note, this cache is not located on the Airport property however nearby.
Parking is roadside and we suggest near the Owen Sound Airport sign would be suitable. Cache is small and will hold a logbook and small trade items.
