There's one more star in the sky Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Monkeyboy: We got a call from KBLAST that he couldn't find the bright red ammo can in the woods. That struck us as odd, so we met him at GZ... and sure enough, it's gone. Heartbroken, disappointed, angry... a mix of emotions. Not just that someone would be heartless enough to steal the container, but for the loss of what it stood for, what it meant... I just feel... empty I guess would be a good word. It's days like this that I regret living in Newark, where things like this are common place. We won't be replacing this one. The only silver lining is that someone grabbed the bug that was in the cache before it was stolen.

Geocache Description:

An ammo can filled with swag. This cache is on level ground, but requires a tiny bit of bushwacking towards the end. The location and placement definitely make this one family friendly. FTF prize was two tickets to a 2010 season show, courtesy of Weathervane Playhouse.

*Please Note: Matthew Trombetta, managing Director at this location, was killed in a car crash on 6/13/2010. He was a dear friend of ours, and will be deeply missed... we're placing this cache in his honor.

This is a working theater during the summer months, so please approach the cache site quietly if there is a show in progress. Access to parking may be limited due to a full parking lot during performances. The cache in located OUTSIDE of the fenced in area (the cache cannot be accessed from within the fence) and is available 24/7, but the *optimum* time to avoid large crowds is to visit before 7pm or after 11pm.

Please don't park at the C-Tec Career Center... the cache is not located on or near that property. Instead, park at N 40 06.106 W 82 25.588.

This cache has been placed with full permission (and encouragement) of the property owner. Please address any questions or concerns to Laura Scheer, Box Office Manager, or Mary Kay Booher, Board Member.

This location is home to Ohio's oldest summer-stock community theater, which originally began in a barn in Heath, Ohio, July 8, 1969.

In 1976 it was relocated to it's current location with the help of Newark Area Jaycees and the Ohio National Guard.

This site was also the scene of a devestating fire in 1987 which destroyed the original structure, but the Newark community rallied their support once again and rebuilt. Much of the reconstruction work was done by the Building Trade Classes of the neighboring Licking County Joint Vocational School, under the supervision of Jim Shoemaker.

Support from Newark Theater Community continues to this day, and through the efforts of the theater's board of directors, countless local donations, and the tireless dedication of the theater's former Managing Director Matthew Trombetta, a multi-million dollar capital improvement expansion is well underway.
