Geocache Description:

Happy Birthday United States Army

This cache is a tribute to the men and women of the greatest Army in the world, the United States Army. It is placed on the 235th Birthday of the US Army, June 14, 2010 and serves as a reminder to the dedication, sacrifices, and strong spirit of yesterday’s, today’s, and tomorrow’s Soldiers who have proudly worn, wear, and will wear the uniform. A sharp and respectable Salute is rendered to each and every member. Happy Birthday!!!

The United States Army is the branch of the United States armed forces responsible for land-based military operations. It is the largest and oldest established branch of the U.S. military, and is one of seven uniformed servies. The modern Army has its roots in the Continental Army, which was formed on 14 June 1775, before the establishment of the United States, to meet the demands of the American Revolutionary War. Congress officially created the United States Army on 3 June 1784 after the end of the war to replace the disbanded Continental Army. The Army considers itself to be descended from the Continental Army and thus dates its inception from the origins of that force.

The Army Goes Rolling Along

Typically only the first verse and refrain are sung (not including the intro)

Intro:

March along, sing our song, with the Army of the free

Count the brave, count the true, who have fought to victory

We're the Army and proud of our name

We're the Army and proudly proclaim

Verse:

First to fight for the right,

And to build the Nation’s might,

And The Army Goes Rolling Along

Proud of all we have done,

Fighting till the battle’s won,

And the Army Goes Rolling Along.

Refrain:

Then it's Hi! Hi! Hey!

The Army's on its way.

Count off the cadence loud and strong**

For where e’er we go,

You will always know
That The Army Goes Rolling Along.

Hooah!!!

There are thorns to deal with but nothing that cannot be overcome. FTF prize awaits the first to finder.

Congratulations to wetfit (US Army, ret.) for the FTF!!!
