John Hay, son of Harvey Hay, and native of Ballinkeel, served in the French army. He returned to Ireland and became a prominent leader in the 1798 rebellion.He was captured towards the end of the rebellion and hanged on Wexford Bridge on 26th June 1798. If you follow the coords above you will be looking at a remembrance plaque.
