This is the third cache in my Historic Doagh? series. The house whihc stood close to this cache had a famous local author who resided here -Florence Mary McDowell.
The house was named 'Bridge House', and Florence lived here towards the close of Queen Victoria’s reign. She was born in 1888 in Doagh and died in1977.
She was a monitress (teacher) at Cogry Mills National School and Kilbride Central Primary School.
Florence wrote 2 books –
'Other Days Around Me' and 'Roses and Rainbows' which were reminiscences of her country childhood here in Doagh.
The books are still available and well worth a read.
Other Days Around Me has illustrations by Rowel Friers
& a foreword by Sam Hanna Bell and is available in Ballyclare library.
There is no need to go into gardens / fields
