A nice and easy cache that you will probably need a 4WD to get to depending on the way that you go.
Located in the Little Desert National Park, these two old concrete structures are remnants of spotters bunkers from World War Two. These were part of an aerial gunnery range for aircraft based at the Nhill Aerodrome.
Three old, wrecked aircraft were located around the bunkers and were used as target practice. The fighters would fly in from the North and South and would practice shooting the wrecks. Spotters would sit in the bunkers and assess the shooting ability of the pilots as they were practicing.
Originally two stories high, the bunkers are now in a sad state of disrepair. The sands have time have decayed them somewhat. Still they are an interesting part of war history in this area.
Cache is easy to find. Please replace carefully and ensure that it is not visible. There are other caches around the area that are well worth a visit while you are in the Little Desert.
