Brusetkollen Skole #2 Traditional Cache

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

Oslo Sanitetsforening fikk eiendommen Vangen (selve skolebygningen som sees fra cachen) i gave fra Asker kunstnerne Otto og Tilla Valstad i 1921. I 1922 kjøpte Oslo Sanitetsforening internatet, lenger vest for skolebygningen, fra Otto og Tilla Valstad. Kjøpet ble finansiert gjennom Sanitetforeningens salg av den kjente Maiblomsten. Gjennom innsamlinger og salg av egenprodusert materiale har Sanitetsforeningen bidratt til reisingen av et stort antall institusjoner. Ekteparet Valstad drev så Brusetkollen som friluftsskole i samarbeid med Sanitetsforeningen og Oslo kommune i mange år
Friluftsskoleideen kom fra Danmark og var et tilbud til barn fra de tettest befolkede og ofte usunne miljøer på Oslos østkant. Kampen mot tuberkulosen var den tids største helsemessige oppgave.Trygging av barn og ungdoms oppvekstvilkår har vært en prioritert oppgave for Sanitetsforeningen. Etter hvert ble målgruppen endret til å omfatte barn og ungdom fra "byen", som trengte kortere eller lengre opphold på "landet". I mange år ble stedet benyttet som feriekoloni og senere som internat og Friluftsskole av Oslo kommune. Brusetkollen barnevernsenter fremstår i dag som en privat barnevernsinstitusjon med eget styre.

Lillebjørn Nilsen synger om Brusetkollen i sangen "Stilleste gutt på sovesal 1":

"Ingen visste hvor vi skulle, noen gjetta og funderte
Noen hadde vært på mange plasser før
Det var Brusetkollen, Eilertsund og Wergeland og Tangen
Og visstnok flere steder lengre sør......."

I 1999 fikk den nye delen av skolebygget Asker Kommunes byggeskikkpris. Selve internatet ligger ca 400 meter vest for skolebygningen. Ved å følge veien opp til skolen kommer man inn på en sti som fører opp til internatet. Vis diskresjon mellom 8-16 på hverdager da det er full skoleaktivitet på området.

Oslo Health Association received the property Vangen, the school building seen from the cache, as a gift from the artists Otto and Tilla Valstad in 1921. The Valstads then ran Brusetkollen as an outdoor school in cooperation with the Public Health Association and the City of Oslo for many years.
In 1922 Oslo Health Association bought the property Brusetkollen (boarding school further west of the school building seen from the cache) from Otto and Tilla Valstad. The acquisition was financed through the Sanitetforeningens sales of the famous Maiblomsten. Through collections, sales of own produced material has Medical Association contributed to the raise of a large number of institutions.
Outdoor School The idea came from Denmark and was offered to children from the most densely populated and often unhealthy environments on the East side of Oslo. The fight against tuberculosis was the biggest struggle.To insure the safety and the health of children and young people growing up has been a priority for the Medical Society (Sanitestforeningen). Eventually, the target changed to include children and youth from the "city", who needed a shorter or longer stay at the "countryside". For many years the site was used as a holiday camp and later as a boarding and Outdoor School of Oslo.

Oslo Public Health Association-Brusetkollen childcare center stands today as a private child care institution with its own board. The dormitory is located about 400 meters west of the school building seen from the cache. By following the road up to the school you will find a trail that leads up to the boarding.
Show discretion between 8-16 on weekdays when school is full of activity on the site.

The cache does not contain a pen.
