Highalpine Hiking from the "Arthurhaus" to the top of the "Hochkönig" to the "Matrashaus" (2.943 m)
Diese hochalpine Wanderung führt euch zum Gipfel des Hochkönigs. Es sind 1.500 Höhenmeter zu überwinden und man muss eine Gehzeit von 4-7 Stunden aufwärts und ca. 4 Stunden abwärts einplanen. Es ist ratsam eine Übernachtung im Matrashaus einzuplanen. Telefon 06467-7566.
Der Cache liegt unter einem Steinmandl etwa 3 Minuten neben dem Normalweg zum Matrashaus. Das Steinmandl steht auf dem höchsten Punkt eines Felsbuckels, direkt gegenüber dem Hochköniggipfel. In der Senke darunter war früher ein Gletschersee. Durch das Abschmelzen des Eises wurde eine Felsspalte frei, durch die nun das ganze Wasser aus dem Gipfelhang abfließt. Dort unten ist auch die Quelle für das Wasser vom Matrashaus. Mit 6 großen Solarpaneelen wird eine große Solarpumpe angetrieben, die das Wasser ca. 100 Höhenmeter hinauf zum Matrashaus pumpt.
Am Bild sieht man das Steinmandl mit dem Cache, links oberhalb den Hochköniggipfel mit dem Matrashaus und direkt vom Steinmandl aus zieht nach rechts der Normalweg hinauf. Man sieht recht schön die "Schlüsselstelle" des Normalweges, das sogenannte Leiterl.
This highalpine hike leads you to the top of the Hochkönig. The difference of altitude is about 1500 and the hiking time is between 4 to 7 hours. It is adviseable to sleep one night at the Matrashaus and go back downhill the next day.
The Cache is under a heap of stones which is approximately 3 minutes away from the normal route. You find the heap of stone at the highest point of a rockhump which lays counterpart of the Hochkönig peak.
The seak underneath was a glacier lake some hundred years ago. Through the melting of the glacier a crevice got bared. Through this crevice the the water is able to flow of. Down there is also the spring of the Matrashaus. The water gets pumped up to the house with 6 solar panels which are driving a big pump.
