The farm Leeuwberg belonged to Gen Kolbe of the Orange Free State. He sold a part of the farm to Pres M.T. Steyn - Onze Rust, as a weekend retreat from the Presidency in Bloemfontein.
The great grandson of Pres MT Steyn bought the farm Leeuwberg and has set up a museum on the farm dedicated to the German and Russian forces on the Eastern Front, as well as the British Forces in North Africa during WW 2. Regular activities take place at the Museum.
The original farmhouse has been converted into a comfortable B&B.
