Die Würm
Die
Würmeiszeit oder Weichsel-Eiszeit
ist die jüngste in Nord-Europa aufgetretene Kälteperiode, die
um 120'000 bis 10'000 Jahre vor heute datiert wird. Ihren Namen im
nördlichen Mitteleuropa hat sie vom in die Ostsee mündenden
polnischen Fluss Weichsel, während sie im Alpenraum nach der
Würm, einem bayrischen Nebenfluss der Amper benannt
wurde.
Die
Jahresmitteltemperatur war in der Schweiz während der Würm von +7°
auf -3° abgesenkt.
Diese letzte Eiszeit
hat durch ihr Vordringen und Zurückweichen eine geologisch relativ
junge Moränenlandschaft hinterlassen.
Sie ist außerdem
gekennzeichnet durch die zunehmende Besiedlung Europas in
verschiedenen Siedlungswellen, die sich als unterschiedliche
Kulturen manifestieren.
Der Rötelstein
Der gewaltige Findling
Rötelstein ist der bekannteste Stein in der Gemeinde Ober-Embrach.
Von roter Farbe ist der Sernifit, auch roter Ackerstein genannt.
Der Stein stammt ursprünglich aus dem Glarnerland, er ist vor
120 000 Jahren vom Walensee-Linthgletscher nach Oberembrach
getragen worden. Weil Stein im 19. Jahrhundert als Baustoff
sehr begehrt war, wurde sogar versucht ihn zu sprengen , was aber
glücklicherweise nicht gelungen ist. Der Weiler Rothenfluh erhielt
seinen Namen vom Rötelstein. In der Gegend von Oberembrach kennt
man vor allem Kies, Sandstein,Tone und Mergel.

The Würm
The Würm Ice Age or Weichsel
Ice Age is the most recent in northernEurope encountered cold
period, which is dated approximately. 120,000 to 10,000 years ago.
In Norhern Europe the name comes
from the Weichsel, a polish river which flows into the Baltic Sea.
In the Alpregion the name comes from the Würm, a bayrish river
which flows into the Amper.
The annual mean temperature was lowered during
that time from +7° to -3° during the Würm.
This last ice age has left its advance and
retreat through a geologically young
moraine.
It is also marked by the increasing population
of Europe in several waves of settlement, which manifest themselves
as different cultures.
The Rötelstone or
Rötelstein
The huge boulder Rötelstein is the most famous
stone in the community of Ober-Embrach. The sernifit is of red
color, another name is red acre-stone. The stone origins from
the county Glarus. It was transported by the
Walensee-Linth-Glacier to Oberembrach 120'000 years ago. Since
stone was in the 19th century eligible for construction means, one
