In spring time an array of wildflowers decorate the Mickelson Trail side. This series of caches will hopefully cause you to stop and enjoy these early blooms. Ride/walk and discover for yourselves these simple pleasures of spring in the Paha Sapa. Check out Spring Creek flowing under the old railroad trestles and along the trail too. These caches are located between Hill City and the Mountain Trailhead.
Hill City trailhead access is at Tracy Park . The Mountain Trailhead is located just south of Crazy Horse on Hwy 385. Remember there is a $4 daily user fee or $15 year pass for the Mickelson Trail. The grade is gentle and gradual. Crazy Horse is the high point along this section. Distance one way is 10.5 miles.
These caches are not meant to be a park/grab off the highway. Do not park on Hwy 385 to attempt these hides. There is limited parking options and very fast traffic. Ride or walk the Mickelson Trail, get out of the car, stretch your legs. Flowers are not necessarily located at each hide site but found all along the trail.
