Geocache Description:

A very small cache in a very urban setting.

This cache brings you to the Harry W. Arthurs Common of York University. Take some time and enjoy the view.

Harry W. Arthurs joined the faculty of the Osgoode Hall Law School as an Assistant Professor in 1961. He made his way to Associate Professor and Professor in 1968. In the early 70's, he was the Associate Dean and for 6 years - from 1972 to 1977, he was Dean. From 1985 to 1992, he was the President of York University.

It was anticipated at the time of placing this cache that in late 2015 you would be able to grab it and then catch the subway at the East end of the common. Construction started in 2010 and because the "earth pressure balance tunnel boring machines" being employed can dig approximately 15 metres per day, it takes a while to complete the six kilometres of twin tunnels required for the subway expansion. The station actually opened on December 17, 2017.

The cache is tucked away and blends well with it's surroundings. The difficulty rating is a result of the combination of the hide and the high muggle-traffic area. Beware of prying eyes and be sure to return the cache to the exact same spot as you found it.
