This small cache is located near the Ruby - Irwin Camp Cemetery just east of the crest of Kebler Pass on County Road 12 about ten miles west of Crested Butte. Small trade or trackable items will fit in the container. Established in 1879, Ruby and Irwin were silver mining camps located about a half mile apart. The cemetery historical marker indicates both communities died in 1885 with the silver bust. However, the Irwin Post Office remained open until June 1900. In 1882 more than 500 homes and building stood on these grounds! When searching in this area be sure to respect those that might be buried nearby without a marker being present.
