Geocache Description:

This is a small bison tube.

There is only a log in the cache so please bring your own pen. Depending on how tightly the log has been rolled up you may also need an implement to help to retrieve it from the cache.

The hide is at a spot where there is a bench and a great view across the lido lake. Access is via a short footpath which is slightly overgrown, and may get a bit muddy during wet weather. The site is thus a quiet place to sit and take in the scenery and birdlife.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CACHE HIDE IS QUITE CLOSE TO THE EDGE OF THE LAKE, SO JUST BE AWARE IF YOU HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN WITH YOU.

Whilst in the area we recommend that you can undertake a walk/cycle around the lake via the 1.5 mile long tarmac path, as this is an easy and enjoyable way to explore the lido. En route is a pub, cafe, sandy beach, children's play area and a miniature railway.

The lake and lido have been used as the setting for various films, including "The Young Ones" staring Cliff Richard, and the original 1958 Titanic movie "A Night To Remember". (visit link)

Free car parking is available at the end of Reservoir Road (this can get very busy during summer weekends) or buses 331 and H13 stop nearby.

If you plan to reach the cache from other directions be aware that your route may be blocked by the miniature railway. There are two access points: the level crossing and at Woody Bay station.
