Waynesboro, Virginia was the scene of a brief but important Civil War Battle in 1865. The location of this cache is along the Confederate Lines where Jubal Early's men tried to repel the eastward approach of the Union troops under the command of General George Armstrong Custer. More than 1,000 Confederates were captured and only 9 Union troops were killed. Early and his staff barely escaped over the Blue Ridge Mountains to the west. This marked the end of the Confederate presence in the Shenandoah Valley. This property is now home of Farmhaus on Main, a nice coffee house.
