Geocache Description:

A Scout Is Brave
This is a NIGHT CACHE.
You will need a flashlight with a strong beam. This cache is part of a series honoring Eagle Scout Service Project and the Scout Law, It is designed to teach Scouts (and newbies) about geocaching.

Are you brave enough to wonder out through the dark woods at night? Perhaps this cache will test your courage.
Although there are no longer saber-toothed tigers roaming the woods or enemy warriors behind every bush, there are still dangers out there that require a great deal of courage to overcome. Sometimes it takes all you have to stand up to those who would offer you drugs or alcohol and just say "NO". Temptations will abound all through your life... and only YOU can decide whether your future is in jeopardy by those temptations.

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO GET TO THIS CACHE FROM THE HIGHWAY !
New coordinates will lead you to a parking lot on Silvermine Road just west of the Police Dept.. From there you must scan your flashlight down the paved trail until you see a small reflection, a dot. These "glints" will lead you to the cache. Some are white, and some are red. The color has no significance. The glints are laid out similar to trail markings on the Appalachian Trail. One glint means straight ahead. A glint with another on top and to the right means turn right, and so on. Most of the time you will be on a trail so if you loose sight of the glints just continue down the trail. When you come to three glints in the form of a triangle, you are there. Keep in mind that the glints are brightest when light is reflected straight back to the source. So keep you light as close to your eyes as possible. Headlamps are best suited for this purpose.

Many of the trails you are walking, on plus those leading further to the south, were built by the efforts of Troop 8, Brookfiled under the guidance of Scout Martin Foncello. Martin is currently Assistant District Attorney in Mahattan.

I am reminded by Giriando that there is barbed wire just past the cache so be careful in the dark. Thanks for your input.
