Another nice view along the East Bay Bike Path. This time it is a nice shot of Mill Pond in Bristol with a clear view of a summer-active osprey nest. Located on a very busy people-trail, so be watchful and discreet. No access at night, because the Bike Path is only open for use during daylight hours.
The cache is a micro, located a few steps off the East Bay Bike Path. The cache contains only a log, so bring your own pencil. Be careful when replacing the cache - dropping it puts you into thick vegetation. PLEASE NOTE: Please remove cache from its hiding place before opening it. Don’t be like the couple who were apparently not familiar with simple hangers and tried to retrieve the log the very hard way. We wish we had a video camera on site to record the priceless scene that accompanied the following dialog. Even our 13 & 15 year-old Granddaughters, who retrieved this cache with ease, could not stop laughing over this one.
“we found this one, but had very bad luck. First the log fell out of the bottom part as I unscrewed it.
I handed the bottom part to my husband before scooting down the hill to retrieve the log. After signing the log, my husband 's hand hit the rail and he lost control and dropped/tossed the bottom part of the cache down the hill to the water. I stick the log in the tree near the top, but this cache is gone. I am sorry.”
In the Spring & Summer, take some time to observe the osprey pair who return here each year. You may get a chance to see their young offspring, but they do keep them well hidden.
