The cache is located outside of the Enaville Resort (aka The SnakePit) which is located on the Coeur d'Alene River Road about a 1.5 miles north of I-90 exit 43. It is a drive up cache.
We discovered the SnakePit several years ago when we came to northern Idaho to ride the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes bicycle trail. In fact we liked it so much that we bought an acreage just up the road on the river where we park our 5th wheel during the summer months. We are Snowbirds and fly south for the winter.
Joe and Rose Mary Peak, the current owners of the establishment, adopted us into their family of friends and we spend many hours there and helping out at the various catering events Joe does during the summer.
The SnakePit was established in 1880. It has a history as long as your arm, including serving as a boomtown bar, railroad layover, hotel, house of ill repute, and starting point for loggers and miners of yesteryear.
