Stutzman's Crossing was named in honor of Jonas Stutzman, the first permanent settler to arrive in what is today Eastern Holmes County. Jonas arrived in 1809 from Pennsylvania and set up a homestead very near to this cache location. To read the historical marker that is on the site of Jonas' farmstead, head west from the cache to the first crossroad. Turn left at that crossroad and then continue straight across SR 39. The marker is on the right side of the road in about .1 miles next to a current Amish farm. The marker has some interesting historical information. Mrs. Firefan04 is a direct descendant of Jonas Stutzman.
There is a small parking area just to the west of the cache location and from the parking area it's a short, paved walk to the cache. The cache is small, about the size of a film cannister and could be hard to find. You do NOT need to venture on the roadway to look for this cache, the cache is found within reach on the paved sidewalk. There is likely to be moderate to heavy muggle traffic both on foot and in car so be stealthy during the search.
Bring your own pen. There is not room for trades, the cache only contains a log. A small extraction tool might be helpful as the log is a tight squeeze in the container. Happy caching!
