Tucked away in unspoilt countryside on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, the ancient church of St Botolph in the parish of Swyncombe is worth a visit.
It has been presumed that the present Swyncombe Church is of early Norman origin. It is thought to have been built by Saxon builders under the direction of the Normans to a traditional design as the original church was constructed as one long nave terminating in an apse. The porch was added in the nineteenth century. There are two bells, but only one is hung – in a small tiled cover above the south door. The church is very well maintained considering its location.
You can park right by the church and you do not have to enter the churchyard to retrieve the cache. There may be muggles about, so stealth will be required.
You may have trouble with the gps signal in this area - use your caching eyes as well.
